In 1901, Teva started as a small wholesale drug business distributing imported medications under the name S.L.E. Though the company’s beginnings were humble, the goal was to improve the lives of patients by providing access to quality medicines, whether for fighting infections or improving overall health. And that goal remains today.
To pursue this goal, the team took advantage of the opportunity to establish a local pharmaceutical industry and developed into Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, a company engaged in the development and production of branded prescription and generic medicines for a wide number of health conditions.
As of 2023, Teva operates in North America, Europe, and international markets. Each region manages the entire product portfolio, including generic medicines, specialty medicines, and over-the-counter (OTC) products. Teva’s portfolio now covers around 3,500 products, placing Teva among the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.
