AI health & nutrition assistant platform

The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) is a government-affiliated institution under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam. Established in 1980, NIN serves as the country’s central authority for research, education, and public health initiatives in nutrition, food science, and clinical dietetics.
The Institute carries nationwide responsibility for studying the dietary needs of the Vietnamese population, analyzing food safety and hygiene, conducting nutritional epidemiology, and issuing national dietary guidelines. NIN also houses specialized departments — such as Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics — which develop therapeutic nutrition regimens, advise government health policy, and implement nutrition programs across Vietnam. With headquarters in Hanoi (48B Tang Bat Ho Street, Hai Ba Trung District), NIN represents the foundation of Vietnam’s nutrition science and public health infrastructure.
Hanoi Medical Hospital approached Globaldev intending to modernize how nutritional care and patient health monitoring are delivered. Traditional meal tracking, calorie calculation, and health assessment processes relied heavily on manual patient input and significant oversight by nutritionists and doctors. This created inefficiencies, inconsistencies in data accuracy, and limited personalization of care.
To improve patient outcomes and ease the workload of medical staff, the hospital needed an intelligent platform capable of:
- analyzing daily meals and identifying ingredients automatically
- calculating kcal intake and energy expenditure
- assessing health status based on patient inputs and behavioral tracking
- monitoring nutrition, physical activity, and vitals in real time
- generating smart alerts and recommendations for doctors and patients
- suggesting personalized meals and exercise plans
- forecasting key health indicators such as BMI and MET (Metabolic Equivalent) using AI
The overarching objective was to bring automation, accuracy, and personalization to patient nutritional management, reducing manual effort while improving dietary compliance and long-term health outcomes.
To help Hanoi Medical Hospital achieve their goals, Globaldev developed an end-to-end AI-powered Health & Nutrition Assistant that combines machine learning, computer vision, and automated health monitoring.
The solution processes daily patient meal photos and textual inputs to identify ingredients and calculate caloric values. It continuously evaluates health status using an advanced rules engine and ML models, tracking nutrition patterns, activity levels, and lifestyle behaviors. TensorFlow-based predictive models forecast BMI, MET, and other critical health indicators to provide early insights for both patients and doctors.
Interactive dashboards visualize health trends, risk zones, improvements over time, and compliance rates. A real-time alerting system notifies medical staff of abnormalities or patient needs, while the recommendation engine generates fully personalized diet and workout plans based on medical guidelines, preferences, and progress.
This integrated platform streamlines patient–doctor communication, automates monitoring, and supports data-driven health decisions.
