Team extension for an AI-powered beekeeping platform
Achievements of Beewise
BeeHome is a climate-tech, AI-powered, Earth-first robotic beehive created by Beewise to address the global bee colony collapse crisis by transforming traditional beekeeping through technology, automation, and healthier hives. Unlike the traditional closed wooden box hive model developed over 150 years ago, BeeHome is built to protect the global food supply by safeguarding bees. In their list of The Best Inventions of 2023, TIME called BeeHome 4 a mighty hive. And there’s a good reason for it.
The Beewise team of over 150 revolutionized the industry by creating a technology-driven beehive that includes computer vision, AI, and precision robotics. Now, bees are constantly monitored using computer vision, with AI identifying their needs in real time and precision robotics applying the appropriate treatment as needed — 24/7, rain or shine.
The innovative approach by Beewise allows beekeepers to overcome three main gaps: distance, time, and experience. With this innovative approach, beekeepers are aware of what their hives need and can deliver the right solution at the right time without near-hive physical presence.
To further develop their groundbreaking project, Beehive felt the urge to grow an in-house team with external experts. With this in mind, they addressed the Globaldev team with a special request: in addition to strong technical skills, potential team members needed to share the same values and love for bees. After a detailed candidate investigation and a few rounds of interviews, we complemented the Beewise family with like-minded technical specialists.
To date, the Beewise team has developed a hardware–software combo for extracting and exchanging data. The physical equipment for inspecting and moving frames, continuous harvesting, and pest control carries signals from a hive, across the network, and to the BeeHome software platform. The platform displays real-time images for every hive and its frames (down to the cell level), shares data analytics, sends alerts across all hives, and features a spectrum of mapping capabilities for hive tracking and action planning. With this setup, for every dollar Beewise makes, they save at least two bees.
